Required Documentation

As part of your application, you must submit all required documentation. 

You must upload an official transcript of grades for the qualifying degree you have completed or are currently enrolled in. The transcript must include:
  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Title of degree
  • Date of completion (if you have graduated)
  • An official stamp/watermark
  • A signature from your university/educational institution
If your transcript does not include the stamp and signature, we must be able to verify the transcript online via a link, QR code, digital signature or similar. Ask your educational institution whether it is possible.
If the transcript is in a language other than English:
We only accept an official English translation from your educational institution or an authorised translator. It must include an official stamp and signature as well.

You must upload an updated version of your CV (maximum of three pages) including a chronological overview of your academic history. 

A photo is not necessary.

We use your grade point average (GPA) as a selection criterion when we receive more applications than available spots on the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters’ Programme.

If your transcript is with:

  • Different grading systems/levels, you must upload your transcript instead of using the GPA calculator.
  • Letter grades that cannot be converted to number grades, you must upload your transcript instead of using the GPA calculator.

All other applications: You must calculate your GPA in percentage using our GPA calculator. We use this information to compare GPAs from universities with different grading systems.

How to calculate your GPA in percentage:
Use this GPA calculator (including a guide), and be aware that we only accept our GPA calculator. Once you have calculated your GPA in percentage, you must enter the number in your application and upload the completed calculator sheet.

Please note, that the number (GPA in percentage) you have entered cannot be altered in the portal after you have submitted your application.

You must upload documentation that you fulfil the requirement of English language proficiency. If you cannot provide the documentation within the deadline, your application will be ineligible for academic assessment and your application will be rejected.

We only accept certain types of documentation/language tests. Please find the specific information on how to fulfil the language requirement.

The deadline for providing proof of English proficiency will not be extended.

You must upload a copy or scan of your valid passport/national I.D.

The identification document must be in English and include the following information:

  • Photo
  • Your full name
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Expiration date

If you have more than 1 citizenship:
Should you have more than one passport (citizenship) please upload the passport which you will use to enter Denmark.

If you wish to apply for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship the deadline for uploading a copy of your passport is:

  • Citizens from a country outside of the EU, EEA or Switzerland: 15 January 2024, CET
  • Citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland: 1 March 2024, CET


If you are not applying for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, the deadline for uploading a copy of your passport is 1 September 2024, CET.

Your letter of motivation must be of approximately 500 words, and contain:

  • An explanation of why you are applying for admission to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA)
  • An explanation of why you have prioritised the chosen mobility track(s).

You may also elaborate on your planned career path upon completion of the Masters’ programme.

You must upload two letters of recommendation if you want to apply for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

At least one of the letters of recommendation must be from an academic contact (e.g., teacher, supervisor).

The letters of recommendation must include

  • a letterhead
  • the complete contact information of the referee: name, address, e-mail address and telephone number

You must upload proof of your current country of residence to confirm your eligibility for admission and for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

We can receive your proof of country of residence in the 2 following ways:

  • A residence certificate issued in accordance with your municipality, region or states normal registration rules.
  • An official letter by your current place of work, study or training issued by the employer or institution in question, confirming your current place of residence.

The document must include:

  • Your full name
  • Date of birth
  • Your address
  • The issue date
  • A signature and stamp of the issuing party

The documentation for proof of residence cannot be more than 6 months old at the application deadline.

You must upload the proof of residence by the application deadline:

  • Deadline for citizens from a country outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland: 15 January
  • Deadline for citizens from the EU, EEA or Switzerland: 1 March

Your application will be rejected if you have not provided proof of your current country of residence in one of the two above mentioned ways by the application deadline.

Deadline to upload your proof of residence: 

  • for citizens from a country outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland: 15 January
  • for citizens from the EU, EEA or Switzerland: 1 March

Upload your official diploma for the qualifying degree you have completed. It must carry an official stamp and a signature from your former university or we must be able to verify the diploma online.

If the diploma is in a language other than English: We only accept an official English translation from your educational institution, or an authorized translator and it must include an official stamp and signature.

If you have not completed your bachelor’s degree at the time of application

If you are offered admission, you must document that you have completed your bachelor’s degree no later than 20 September.

We can receive your diploma in 3 following ways

1) Send us a copy of your bachelor’s diploma by email

Send the copy to msc-admissions@science.ku.dk. It is important you send it from the email you have registered in the application portal. The copy can be either a PDF or a photo of your official diploma.

The document must be verified and include:

  • Your full name
  • Date of birth
  • Title of your degree
  • Date of completion for all your required ECTS – even if you haven’t formally graduated yet.

If the diploma is in a language other than English

We only accept an official English translation from your educational institution or an authorised translator. It must include an official stamp and signature.

2) Ask your university to confirm your degree completion by emailing us

The email must be sent from an official, verifiable university administration email. Send the email directly to msc-admissions@science.ku.dk. The email must include:

  • Your full name
  • Date of birth
  • Title of your degree
  • Date of completion for all your required ECTS – even if you haven’t formally graduated yet.

3) Provide us with information we can use for online verification of your degree

Send an email to msc-admissions@science.ku.dk from you or your university with a link to an online verification service. The email must include:

  • Your full name
  • Date of birth
  • Title of your degree
  • Date of completion for all your required ECTS – even if you haven’t formally graduated yet.

Upload only the required documentation

We only evaluate required documentation when assessing your application. Therefore, you should only upload the required documentation.

No visa process before you are fully admitted

Citizens from a country outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland need a visa to enter Denmark.
We will not initiate your online visa application until you have met all conditions of your admission and you are fully admitted.

Anything missing in your application?

We require that you submit all required documentation when submitting your application. We then assess whether your application is complete by looking through the required documentation. If anything is missing, we will send you a message in the application portal.
The deadline for uploading any missing documents will be 1 week from the time we contact you. We cannot extend the deadline. Make sure to check your email regularly and your spam filter too.

Verification of information

If we determine that you have used falsified or misleading documentation in your application, we are obliged to report it to the police, reject your application and cancel your admission.

How to Apply

You need to create an application in the application portal and upload all relevant documentation. This is the only way you can apply for admission.

You can submit 3 applications for UCPH
Please note that you are only allowed to submit a maximum of 3 applications to study programs across all faculties at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) for the same intake.
Any additional applications will be cancelled by the MSc admission office.
There is not limit to how many Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Programmes you can apply for across universities.

Keep track of your application
Once you have applied for admission, you will receive updates and messages from us in the application portal. When you receive a message in the application portal, a notification will be sent to the email you have registered in your application. Please note that emails may end up in your spam filter.

We recommend that you do not use your student email when creating your application as some universities terminate student accounts once a student has completed their degree.

Tips and tricks for the application portal

  • Use Firefox or Google Chrome as a browser when creating, submitting and accessing your application. 
  • Read the user guide for the application portal when you fill out your application. 
  • Read the FAQ where you can find answers to the most common questions concerning the application portal. 
  • Contact SCIENCE Student Services if you cannot find the answers you are looking for in the FAQ. 
  • Contact UCPH IT if you have technical problems. 

You will receive all information regarding your application in the application portal.

If you fulfil the admission requirements and there are places available in the MSc programme, we will send you an offer of admission. You will receive only 1 offer of admission. It will be for the MSc programme that is the highest of your priorities where we are able to offer you admission.

If you do not fulfil the admission requirements, we will also let you know through the application portal.

We will be offering admission ongoing from March (non-EU)/May (EU) until 10 June, so it is important that you check the application portal regularly during this period.

Accept your offer of admission within 5 days

You need to actively accept the offer of admission within 5 days of receiving the message in the application portal. If you do not accept the offer before the deadline, you will lose your place in the MSc programme as we will offer the place to another applicant.

Your admission offer is conditional and will include a list of conditions you must meet in order to obtain full admission, e.g. certified documentation for a completed bachelor’s degree. We will inform you of the deadlines and how to meet the conditions in the offer of admission.

Check your email and the portal regularly

When you receive a message in the application portal, a notification will be sent to the email you have registered in your application. Please note that emails from the application portal may end up in your spam filter.

We highly recommend that you check the status of your application regularly in the application portal, so you do not miss any important information.
